Yacht Walkthrough Inspection: Cost-Effective Initial Assessment
If you’re interested in a yacht but want to avoid the higher cost of a full Pre-purchase Condition Survey initially, we can arrange a comprehensive Walkthrough Inspection for you.
What the Walkthrough Inspection Includes:
A qualified marine surveyor will visit the yacht and conduct a focused inspection covering approximately 30 key areas, including:
-
Hull, shafts, propellers, rudders, brackets, and keel (for sailing yachts) — inspection possible only if the yacht is ashore; haul-out and haul-in costs apply otherwise
-
Deck, topsides, transom, rails, mast, and rigging (for sailing yachts)
-
Bilges around the keel/hull junction (for sailing yachts)
-
General internal condition
-
Tender and outboard motor
-
Navigational electronics
-
Identification of any existing damage
-
Superficial engine room inspection
-
Up to three additional points of special interest requested by the buyer
-
Approximately 30 detailed photographs highlighting key observations
Inspection Report
Following the inspection, you will receive a concise 2-3 page report summarizing all findings and highlighting any areas that may require attention.
Next Steps
If you decide to proceed with the purchase after the Walkthrough Inspection and the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is signed, we highly recommend commissioning a full Pre-purchase Condition Survey.
You can also discuss a potential discount with your surveyor based on the initial inspection.
